Loren Grush . . . Great report. "Americans Heading Back to the Moon?"
Loren Grush. So young (and pretty). And a great science reporter! I like that she started off as an entertainment reporter and switched to hard news. Her FoxNews articles can be found at http://www.foxnews.com/contributor/loren-grush/index.html

Emmy Lou Harris at SXSW on NPR 2011
I used to love going to SXSW. I didn't see the lineup, and NPR had everything but the blues. But they had this gem by Emmy Lou Harris. I remember seeing Emmy Lou Harris with James Taylor in Chicago in the 1980's. It was outside at Washington Park on the southside. She came on stage just at sunset. Her hair was blowing in the breeze and James Taylor and Emmy Lou just created magic on the stage. Later that evening, James played "Lighthouse" and then pointed up at the sky just as a satellite (Skylab?) was orbiting overhead. We all looked up to that treat. It fit in perfectly with the music. I also remember his light show, and right when he sang, "deep green and blues are the colors I choose" in Sweet Baby James, of course right then the stage was lit by green then by blue lights. Beautiful. It's funny how 25 years later the memories are still there.

You Wait So Long
Thanks to my friend Jon Jaroszewski for finding this Tranpled By Turtles video. It reminds me of some of our own great jams here in Illinois with John Rothenberger on the mandolin and the Martin, and Jon J on guitar or bass and Mark Flanagan on harmonica This also reminds me of some of the old time jams back in Austin on the porch out in the hill country. Some of the best players I've ever met down there too, not to mention Aleatha Rhea's vocals. This week is SXSW!! Wish I were there!

Chicago Actress is inspiring
Francine Locke is truly inspiring. She has had a longtime career in acting and modeling, and like many people, has had seasons of change. She had a great 2010, with some really good projects, Many people had a difficult time during the great recession of the 2,000's but Francine came out of the decade with a bright finish and her story is inspiring for anybody that needs to dive back into their first love.
